Who can I speak to if I want to talk?

When you were at The Bridge, the people looking after you should have explained where you can turn to for self-help resources and people to talk to. At the top of this page, there is The Bridge self help guide and The Bridge children & young people guide, you may find it helpful to read through these.

In your My healthy journey booklet, you will also find the special health advice number (page 6), which you can text for questions about your health and appointments. You can also ring us at The Bridge on 0117 342 6999 for any other questions you may have, the telephone is always answered 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.

Childline – Childline have a really helpful and easy to navigate website, you can talk to them online or call them on 0800 1111 24/7, 365 days a year.

Yuno Sexual Health

If you live in Bristol or South Gloucestershire, you may have been referred to Yuno at Central Health Clinic for a follow-up appointment.

The Riverside Clinic

If you live in Bath and North East Somerset, you may have been referred to The Riverside Clinic for a follow-up appointment.

They offer free, friendly, non-judgemental and confidential testing, treatment and advice for sexually transmitted infections, as well as a wide range of contraceptive options including emergency contraception, contraceptive pills, implants and injections, intrauterine devices/systems (also known as coils), and condoms

SWISH

If you live in Somerset, you may have been referred to SWISH for a follow-up appointment.

SWISH offer full sexual health and contraceptive services through young people friendly clinics around the county. They are able to allocate extra time and support to those vulnerable and or aged under 25 (including under 16s).

Wiltshire Sexual Health Service (WiSe) is a free, non judgemental and confidential NHS service providing STI testing and treatment, contraception and HIV services in Wiltshire.

Support for parents & carers

The Green House – this is a counselling service in Bristol, but although your child may have been referred somewhere different, you may still find their parent & carer information to be a really useful resource. Somerset Phoenix Project – this is a counselling service in Somerset, but although your child may have been referred somewhere different, you may still find their parent & carer information to be a really useful resource. You can take a look at their page here, where you can also download their parent & carer handbook.

We Stand – this is a national organisation that supports non-abusing parents and carers whose children have been sexually abused. They also have a helpline. You can take a look at their website here.
